Der Rosenkavalier - Harmoniemusik (Wind Ensemble)
Inspired by the classical tradition of arranging operas and symphonies for wind ensemble to enable them be played in chamber concerts, Nigel Shore has written a Suite for Wind Ensemble of scenes from Richard Strauss’ opera Der Rosenkavalier. This Harmoniemusik is in three movements, structured according to the three acts of the opera.

Ariadne auf Naxos - Harmoniemusik (Wind Ensemble)
The second in our series of Harmoniemusik based on operas by Richard Strauss. The delicate chamber orchestration of Ariadne auf Naxos calls for lighter forces than Der Rosenkavalier. This Harmoniemusik is composed in two movements for double wind quintet with contrabassoon.

Salome’s Dance - Harmoniemusik (Wind Ensemble)
While working on his new version of Salome for chamber ensemble, Nigel Shore wrote this wind ensemble transcription of Salome’s Dance for the same instrumentation as his Harmoniemusik on Der Rosenkavalier.

Britten’s evocative interludes from Peter Grimes have long been standard programming in orchestral concerts. This transcription maintains the extraordinary range of contrast and expression of the originals and is a welome addition to the larger chamber repertoire.

Serenade No. 12 in C minor, K. 388
Mozart’s Serenade No. 12 (Nachtmusik), is originally scored for wind octet, although Mozart himself also made a transcription for string quintet (K. 406). The present transcription for wind quintet keeps the original wind colouring while following the five parts of Mozart’s string version.

The Fantasie in F minor for mechanical organ has been transcribed for piano solo, piano duet, strings among other versions. This transcription for wind quintet is much closer to the original sound of the the small mechanical organ that Mozart had in mind.
